ADVERTISING vs ART

ADVERTISING vs ART

WHERE DOES THE LINE BEGIN TO BLUR BETWEEN ADVERTISING AND ART? WE THINK THE ANSWER IS IN OUR LATEST INSTALLATION ON JL RAYA SINGAKERTA!

Time and again around the island of Bali, there are stories shared among friends, old and new of just how each of us ended up here. A common rhetoric is corporate burn out, wanting to exit the rat race and stop selling out, to lead an ethical life with complete integrity.

Here at the PoC we’re no different. Many of our staff have led ‘successful’ corporate careers in their respective countries before seeking something more. Heck, our founders were, ahem, advertisers and marketers for over 50-years before starting their spiritual journey!

So now we’re here, and we’ve made the conscious decision for not only self-improvement but to improve the lives of others through the power of the pyramids and ancient sound healing.

Our passion is to give the best experience possible to our guests when they visit our property. But of course, we can’t do that unless the community knows we exist! So how do we put our marketing caps back on without compromising our ethics?

Involving and benefiting the Balinese community is one way we’ve found!

The idea of an advertising billboard is nothing new. In fact, they’ve been around for centuries in one form or another. But for this project, we aimed to rent the wall space and commission the artwork of indigenous Balinese people to ensure they received the benefit.

The location we chose is on the wall of Satya wood carving on JL Raya Singakerta. A busy route travelling east between Sayan and Nyuh Kuning. We encourage you to drop by for a photo with the artwork and be sure to say ‘Hai’ to Nyoman and his team and grab one of his incredible wood carvings.

The artists commissioned we’re the TUK Crew. A group of street artists responsible for some incredible designs around the island. Special thanks to Agung for being a legend to deal with! You can check out their work on Instagram @nsertrane or contact them on nsertraneart@gmail.com for your own masterpiece.

We hope we’ve taken a small step to beautify and involve the community with our marketing activities.

Stay tuned for more installations around the island as we strive to spread our good vibrations globally in an ethical manner!
